How to check your windows for air currents?
As the weather gets cooler, it's a good time to check that all your windows and doors are well sealed. If the handles or fittings are loose your windows will not seal effectively, causing currents and letting hot air out.
Below is an easy way to check your windows. All you need is a business card and follow these 3 simple steps:
1. Open the window and place a card at the top between the window and the window.
2. Close the window by holding the card firmly so that it presses against the window sill.
3. Release the card. If the card falls or comes out easily then your window is probably lost.
Note - if your windows are stiff, do not push them as you may break them. If you are careful, you can lubricate the rotation and tilt points with a lubricating spray.
